The uprising was an eruption of the pent-up wrath and resentment of the south Korean people under the colonial rule of the U.S. imperialists and their stooges for 15 years after the liberation of the country and anti-U.S., anti-fascist resistance participated in by millions of people of broad strata across south Korea, the article notes, and goes on:

The uprising proved that if the south Korean people aspiring after independence, democracy and reunification pool their efforts and wage a stubborn struggle braving death, they can certainly defeat any ferocious dictatorial forces.

50 years have passed since the uprising but the desire of the uprisers has not yet come true. This is entirely attributable to the U.S. imperialists' domination and interference in the affairs of south Korea and the treacherous policy of the pro-American conservative forces toeing the policy of foreign forces.

Since the emergence of the regime veiled with the word of "pragmatism" in south Korea the desire of the people for an independent and democratic new politics, new life has been ruthlessly trampled down and the movement for national reunification has faced a grave challenge though it had made dynamic advance in the idea of "By our nation itself".

In the light of its strong sense of independence and dignity the Korean nation can no longer tolerate foreign forces' presence in south Korea and domination over it and the tragedy of the division caused by them.

To struggle for independence against the U.S. is the only way of establishing national sovereignty.
