Speakers at the meeting deplored that it is half a century since the uprising but an emergency situation is now prevailing in south Korea due to the present treacherous and anti-reunification regime little different from the Syngman Rhee regime.

Stressing the need to judge the present arrogant regime and demonstrate the will of the public through the forthcoming "election to the local self-governing bodies", they called upon all the progressive forces to solidarize and unite and struggle in the spirit of the April 19 Popular Uprising to surely punish the dictatorial regime.

The Youth Solidarity of south Korea also issued a statement on the same day on the said occasion at which it said that in order to realize the desire of the uprisers, it is necessary to surely punish the dictatorial regime with the above-said election as a momentum and hold with splendor the event of the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
