Kim Jong Il Enjoys Concert on Army Day

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed a concert given by the State Merited Chorus on the army day on the occasion of the 78th founding anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army. The concert began with the playing of the national anthem. Put on the stage were male chorus "Song of the Korean People's Army", male solo and chorus "A Sentinel Offers Warm Greetings to the Leader", male chorus "Wind Blows on Mt. Paektu", male solo and chorus "Song of Comradeship", female solo and male chorus "Nobody Knows," and male solo and chorus "A Cameraman Has Come to Our Company" and other colorful numbers. The performers enthusiastically sang of the shining course of victory and glory covered by the heroic Korean People's Army holding aloft the red flag of the revolution and powerfully demonstrated the firm faith and indomitable will of the army and people to accomplish the Juche revolutionary cause that started in the forest of Mt. Paektu and the cause of building a great prosperous powerful nation. He expressed great satisfaction over the splendid performance replete with the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu given by the State Merited Chorus and highly appreciated the successful performance, extending thanks to all the creators and artistes. He expressed expectation and belief that the artistes of the State Merited Chorus would conduct dynamic revolutionary performing activities, deeply aware of their honorable mission and duty as buglers in the era of Songun, and thus more energetically arouse the servicepersons and people to the general advance for the Songun revolution. Among the audience were KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, KPA General Ri Yong Ho, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA General Kim Jong Gak, member of the NDC of the DPRK and first vice director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, Ju Sang Song, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of People's Security, and other commanding officers of the army and armed forces organs, Secretaries Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam and Department Directors Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Yong Il and Kim Yang Gon and other leading officials of the WPK Central Committee, leading officials of party and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the KPA, officials of the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media. |
