He was briefed on farming preparations by its officials and acquainted himself with the cultivation of cold-bed rice seedlings. When he saw a ditch, he told an official to measure the temperature of the water.

Finding it was 3-4 degrees lower than the atmospheric temperature, he said it was very important to warm water for rice field, especially in cold or infertile areas and that rice would grow better, if the temperature of water was raised 4 degrees more.

He then advised the farm officials to use the waste water from a hot spring of the nearby rest centre for its farming and took necessary measures for it.
