Since a national meeting of inventors was held in Juche 77 (1988), such events as national exhibition of inventions and new technologies, national exhibition of achievements of young scientists and technicians, and scientific and technological festival and seminar have been organized on a regular way, involving not only scientific research institutes but scientists, technicians and many other working people from educational and health institutions and industrial establishments.

Over the past two decades the number of applications for patent right has steadily increased.

Many of them have helped solve crucial issues arising in production.

The fact shows that interchange and cooperation have been strengthened as regards intellectual property rights and that a big progress made in examination, registration, protection and dissemination of inventions and patent things. It also indicates that public interest in new inventions and technologies is ever growing in the country.

Colorful activities taking place in the DPRK to mark the World Intellectual Property Day (April 26), this year's theme of which is "Innovation-Linking the World", will serve as an occasion in promoting the technical innovation movement in the country.
