Present there on invitation were Pak Ui Chun, minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, and Ri Yong Chol, vice-department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The Cuban ambassador, addressing the reception, said that the wise and tested leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il has become a source of strength that enabled the Korean people to emerge victorious in socialist construction and the struggle to achieve the reunification of the country.

He wished Kim Jong Il great success in his work to lead the Korean people.

Pak Ui Chun in his speech referred to the fact that Kim Jong Il has paid deep attention to the development of the friendly and cooperative relations with Cuba.

He hoped that the Cuban government and people would register successes in the struggle to defend the revolutionary gains under the leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz.
