S. Korea Accused of Derailing Tour of Mt. Kumgang

Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- How to approach the tour of Mt. Kumgang precisely means an attitude toward the north-south relations, and to block the tour is little short of denying the national reconciliation and cooperation and the improved inter-Korean relations, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article. The north-south relations are inching close to an uncontrollable catastrophe with each passing day due to the south Korean authorities' unreasonable refusal to resume the tour of Mt. Kumgang, the article notes, and goes on: It is deplorable, indeed, that the tour has been pushed to the phase of catastrophe due to the present south Korean authorities' deliberate obstructions even though it had been underway for over a decade, injecting fresh energy into the inter-Korean relations. The south Korean conservative forces, displeased with the national reconciliation and cooperation and the improved north-south relations, have desperately blocked the tour of Mt. Kumgang with a negative approach toward it. This threw a hurdle in the way of national reconciliation and cooperation and pushed the inter-Korean relations to graver catastrophe. The anti-reunification moves of the south Korean authorities threw the tour of Mt. Kumgang into the worst crisis. Under this situation the Korean people have drawn the conclusion that the inter-Korean relations can never be improved unless the conservative group rolls back its anti-reunification and confrontational policy. The south Korean conservative group will have to pay a dear price for having doggedly stood in the way of the tour to be deprived of the hard-won opportunity of improving the north-south relations. |
