Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance by "Orchestra of 21st Century"

Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il on Wednesday enjoyed a performance given by the "Orchestra of the 21st Century" of Russia on a visit to the DPRK. The orchestra made up of people's and merited artistes and international concours winners and other famous conductors, vocalists and instrumentalists of Russia put on the stage such colorful numbers as chorus and orchestral music "Where are you, comrade-in-arms now", male trio "It's time to leave", male solo and chorus "Tribute to that great period", chorus and dance "Kalinka", male solo "From where the country begins", female solo "Blue handkerchief", female folk solo "Willow", chorus and bayan solo "In the forest near the front", violin solo "Chardash", chorus "Day of victory", Korean songs "Where Are You, Dear General" and "My Home Village." Through the performance the Russian artistes truthfully represented with high artistry the ardent love of the Russian people for their motherland, traditional custom and national emotion. Kim Jong Il sent a floral basket to them, congratulating them on their successful presentation. Among the audience were Secretaries Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek and Kim Yong Il of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other leading officials and officials in the fields of literature and arts and media. |
