According to the report, the officials and designers of the Namhung Chemical Designing Institute worked out the overall processes Korean way in reliance upon the locally available raw materials and the industrial foundation of the DPRK.

The workers of the complex not only completed in a matter of little over one year the huge construction project which would have taken several years at an ordinary pace but made achievements in the manufacture and assembly of equipment and facilities.

The scientists and technicians succeeded in producing ammonia synthetic catalyst through anthracite gasification with their own technology and introduced the latest scientific and technological achievements to suit the specific conditions of the country.

They also developed control programs according to the specific features of such processes as gas generation process and ammonia production process to suit the actual conditions of the complex on the principle of profitability, thus establishing the computer control system of Korean style equipped with automatic control, sequential control, warning and break system and self-checkup functions.

The development of indigenous DCS system in putting chemical industry on an automatic control opened up a bright prospect of establishing an integrated computer control system in comprehensive large chemical bases of the country.

The completion of the anthracite gasification also made it possible to remarkably increase the fertilizer production while cutting down the production cost more than two times as compared with the method of producing ammonia by naphtha. This also helps put spurs to the development of petrochemical industry.
