The statement said that the last 78 years covered by the KPA represent the history shining with victory and glory as it has been led by peerlessly brilliant commanders.

It noted that Korea was liberated by the Korean People's Revolutionary Army founded by President Kim Il Sung.

It recalled that the President developed the KPRA into the KPA, regular armed forces, and firmly defended the country's sovereignty in the three-year war ignited by the U.S. imperialists.

Today the KPA is opening a new chapter in its development under the distinguished leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il, it said.

Thanks to his leadership the KPA has grown to be a matchless army equipped with modern offensive and defensive means and is demonstrating its might as a vanguard unit not only in defending the country but also in building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation, the statement said, adding: The KPA will always emerge victorious as it is led by Kim Jong Il.
