The statement accused the security forces of arresting on April 20 Min So Hyon, a member of the "Taegu Young Fellowship Association in the Era of the June 15 Joint Declaration", on the charge of violation of the "National Security Law".

It also slammed the authorities for suppressing representatives of the Internet broadcasting service "Chongchun" and the "Mirae" Opera Troupe and walking off Kang Pyong Chan of the Rowon Youth Association and Kim Hyon Ung, a student of Chonnam National University, under the pretext of their past involvement in activities of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils.

Noting that the frantic repressive actions of the dictatorial forces would only prove that their days are numbered, the statement demanded the authorities immediately stop the crackdown on youth and students.

It called on all the people to turn out in the actions for the release of the detained youth and students and the democratization of society and punish the dictatorial regime through the forthcoming "election to the local self-governing bodies" without fail.
