Kim Yong Il said in his report that May Day is a significant holiday demonstrating before the world the revolutionary spirit of the Korean working people including workers, farmers and intellectuals devotedly working for the prosperity of the country, single-mindedly rallied around the Party, and showcasing their international solidarity and unity with the working people the world over struggling to break the chains of capital and gain democratic freedom and rights and independent life.

With deep insight into the position and role of the working masses including the working class in accomplishing the popular masses' cause of independence, President Kim Il Sung awakened and organized broad masses, thereby building a strong driving force for the Korean revolution and dynamically advancing the revolution and construction with its might, the reporter said, and went on:

The President put forward the working people as the master of the country, society and revolution and led the revolution and construction to victory by dint of the creative ingenuity and concerted efforts of the working masses. The cause of the President is being successfully carried forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

In the days of the Songun revolutionary leadership Kim Jong Il made it sure that May Day was commemorated as the international holiday of the working people the world over from a Juche-based viewpoint and put up the slogan "Working People of the Whole World, Unite!," providing guidelines for reinforcing the mass foundation of the revolution in the new century.

The workers and other working people have devotedly worked for the country and the revolution under the wise leadership of the Party and the leader, thus making the stirring annals of the Korean revolution shine with undying exploits.

The reporter called upon all the working people to advance like wind at the "Huichon speed" true to the idea and spirit enshrined in the joint New Year editorial, the joint calls of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea issued on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the WPK and the letter of the workers at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and thus work world-startling miracles and perform heroic feats in the on-going drive for a significant improvement in the people's standard of living.

He expressed positive support and firm solidarity with the south Korean working people in their just struggle for independence against the U.S. and for the democratization of society and national reunification.

The working people in the DPRK will discharge their historic mission in defending world peace and security and promoting the human cause of independence and boost international solidarity with the working people the world over under the uplifted banner of independence, peace and friendship, the reporter stressed.
