Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Pavel Ovsyannikov, head and chief conductor of the "Orchestra of the 21st Century" of Russia, on a visit to the DPRK was interviewed on May 2. Referring to his honor of having performed before General Secretary Kim Jong Il, he said that he was greatly impressed by the traits of Kim Jong Il who has shown great interest for the development of the literature and arts. He further said: Kim Jong Il is deeply versed in the arts. His rich knowledge about music caught my admiration. He is really a great master of the arts. The DPRK represented the Russian opera "Evgeni Onegin". It is thanks to the meticulous guidance of Kim Jong Il that the younger generation of the DPRK successfully represented the opera. Under his leadership the literature and arts of the DPRK are developing as the days go by. I, as a musician, will exert more positive efforts for the Russia-DPRK friendly relations in the future. |
