The bulletin in its article stressed that the 78 year-long history covered by the KPA represents a history of victory and glory in which it has defended and glorified independence, sovereignty and socialism under the leadership of the peerlessly brilliant commanders while winning one victory after another in the showdown with the formidable imperialist enemies.

The foundation of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army by President Kim Il Sung on April 25, 1932 provided the Korean people with a sure guarantee for accomplishing the cause of national liberation with an armed struggle as the main trend, the bulletin said.

After liberating the country the President put primary efforts into developing the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into the regular Korean People's Army, the bulletin said, adding: Under his leadership the KPA defeated the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world in the Fatherland Liberation War, thus reliably defending the sovereignty of the country.

Thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il the KPA could open a new chapter in its development, the bulletin said, stressing that he, possessed of extraordinary wisdom and stratagem and outstanding commanding art no one can match, has ushered in a great heyday of army-building.
