Anti-"Government" Actions Staged across S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Anti-"government" actions were staged across south Korea on Saturday last, May Day, with more than 100,000 people from all walks of life involved.

An "All-people May Day rally" held in Seoul was attended by over 15,000 people of at least 2,000 organizations such as the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Solidarity for Progress.

Speakers at the rally lashed out at the authorities for blocking a reunification event of workers in the south and the north to mark May Day.

The authorities are sadly mistaken if they calculate that the suppression of the democratic trade union movement will bring the resistance of workers and other people to an end, they said.

Noting that it is the only way of achieving democracy and winning the rights of the workers to bring down the treacherous regime, the speakers called for judging the authorities by concerted efforts through the forthcoming "election to the local self-governing bodies".

The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration issued a statement on April 30 on the occasion of May Day in which it condemned the puppet authorities for their unpopular labor policy.
