Pukchang Area Endowed with Large Coal Reserves
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The Pukchang Area Coal Mining Complex located in the northern part of South Phyongan Province is one of the major coal producers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The demand for high-caloric coal produced in Pukchang area, with billons of tons of deposits, is ever growing in the country.

Last year the complex boosted the production 1.5 times compared with the previous year by expanding the Phunggok Mine and carried out its assignments for the first quarter of this year at 136.6 percent.

It is now developing new coal fields in Namdok, Hoean, Inpho and other mines to surpass the yearly target.

Its material and technological foundations have been consolidated considerably.

Founded in February Juche 73 (1984), the complex has topped its plan every year, contributing to the economic growth of the country.
