Present there were officials in the field of public health including Ri Pong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, medical scientists and the delegation of Korean medical men in Japan led by Kim Chun Saeng and the delegation of Korean medical men in the United States headed by Choe Hye Suk.

Ri Pong Hun in an opening address expressed the hope that the symposium would be conductive to developing the medical science and technology into a higher stage in the idea of "By our nation itself" this year marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration.

Kim Chun Saeng made a congratulatory speech.

Then followed panel symposiums on internal medicine and external medicine which heard scores of papers titled "Diabetes updated", "Medicine and the Internet in the 21st century" and "Clinical study on the improvement of the management of the triplet pregnant women's health".

Introduced in the papers were valuable research achievements and experience gained in the course of settling the scientific and technological problems essential for practice of public health and applying the successes made in the latest scientific and technological field to the prevention and treatment of diseases.
