Noting that it is the tragedy of the Korean people and the world's progressives who love peace that Korea has not yet been reunified though more than half a century has passed since its partition into the north and the south, the statement went on:

The U.S., a signatory to the Korean Armistice Agreement, is posing constant military threat to the DPRK and applying economic sanctions against it.

But the Korean people have turned the DPRK into a politico-military and socio-economic power by embodying the Juche idea, the Songun idea, which was founded by President Kim Il Sung and has been developed in depth by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The association called on the leaders of various countries and media of the world to make every possible effort to support the independent reunification of Korea and ensure that the KAA concluded in 1953 is replaced by a peace treaty and the moves of the U.S. to stifle the DPRK are brought to an end.

The U.S. administration should take practical measures to create an environment favorable for durable peace on the Korean Peninsula and Korea's reunification and put an end to the unfair sanctions against the DPRK.
