World Day of Red Cross and Red Crescent Marked

| Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- On the occasion of the World Day of Red Cross and Red Crescent, May 8, the Red Cross Society of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has launched various activities to help the government successfully implement its popular policies for averting natural disasters, preventing epidemic and other diseases and supplying the people with clean drinking water. Its provincial, municipal and county branch offices have sponsored explanatory sessions on the fundamental principles of the Red Cross movement and the duty and role of its volunteers. Young volunteers have conducted artistic propaganda activities for facelifting villages and public places in a hygienic and modern way, keeping off epidemic diseases and preventing traffic accidents in conjunction with month of preventing accidents (May). Such activities will continue until the end of the month. |
