Kim Jong Il Enjoys Light Comedy "Echo of Mountain"

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated again light comedy "Echo of Mountain", winner of "Kim Il Sung Prize", being staged everyday before full house. The light comedy is a monumental masterpiece of great realistic significance as it instills into the people the firm confidence that they can surely build on this land a socialist paradise to be envied by the world people when they make uninterrupted advances and bring about steady innovations by learning from the high aims, the spirit of revolutionary optimism and the enterprising and militant work style displayed by the people in the era of Chollima. The audience was greatly mesmerized by the peculiar performance which vividly and truthfully represented the reality in the rural areas in the 1960s through the combination of cheerful laugh and good humor. At the end of the performance Kim Jong Il waved back to the enthusiastically cheering performers and audience and congratulated the artistes on their successful presentation. He said that "Echo of Mountain" is such a masterpiece of the era that the more one watches it, the more deeply one can grasp the profound truth of life. He highly appreciated the success made by the artistes of the State Theatrical Troupe in the performance and once again extended thanks to them. "Echo of Mountain" serves as an effective educational means powerfully rousing the party members and other working people to struggle and exploits still today for its great influence and cognitive and instructive significance, he noted, underscoring the need for the creators and artistes to create more such famous works having permanent vitality in order to instill boundless strength and courage into the servicepersons and people all out in the gigantic drive for building a thriving nation. Among the audience were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, KPA General Kim Jong Gak, member of the NDC of the DPRK and first vice director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, KPA General Ri Yong Ho, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, and other commanding officers of the army and armed forces organs, Secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Yong Il and Kim Yang Gon and other senior officials of the WPK Central Committee, and Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs. |
