The competition brought together at least 150 officials and workers in the field of publication distribution selected from various provinces. It was divided into group and individual contests.

The participants vividly explained the contents of the books dealing with the personality of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu as great persons, their wise leadership and immortal revolutionary histories, including long story "Era of Prosperity" from the cycle of novels "Immortal History", books "Our Leader" (Part 2), "General Kim Jong Il, the Sun of Songun" (Part 2), "Hoeryong" and other books, deeply impressing the audience.

The audience appreciated the book explanation by way of art agitation, a combination of narration, singing and poem recital which are helpful to arousing the masses to heroic struggles and feats in work sites alive with a general offensive for improving the people's standard of living, and the high skill displayed by book distributing workers.
