Light Comedy "Echo of Mountain"

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Light Comedy "Echo of Mountain" has been performed before full houses in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The light comedy is based on devoted and worthwhile efforts of peasants in a mountainous area to increase the grain production and turn their village into a place good to live in. The work, which was originally created by the creators and artistes of the then Kangwon Provincial Art Theatre in Juche 50 (1961), has been recreated by the State Theatrical Troupe some time ago to meet the demand of the new era. It is set against the background of the period of socialist construction in the 1960s but reflects important issues relating to state policies and the Korean people's efforts and life in the present period of a great upsurge. It teaches the people a true way for happiness and prosperity. It calls on the people to pursue continued innovations, not contended with what they have done, and ride Chollima (a legendary horse running 250 miles a day), not a donkey, reminding them of an appeal of the Workers' Party of Korea to plant their feet on their land with an eye on the world. The light comedy encourages the people to turn out in making a fresh upsurge in their work. Some time ago, General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated the light comedy again and praised it as a masterpiece giving a profound truth of life. |
