Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to Taehongdan County of Ryanggang Province. The first leg of his guidance was the Paeksan Pig Farm under the county agricultural management committee. Being briefed on the farm before a huge map showing its panoramic view, he went round the interior and exterior of the farm to acquaint himself in detail with its construction, technical equipment and breeding conditions. He highly appreciated the devoted efforts made by the officials and employees of the farm for the prosperity of the country, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that they turned the farm into a modern pork production center by their own efforts and with their own technology in a brief span of time. Noting that the farm is a modern pork production centre as a high level of quality was ensured in its construction and all its processes are put on a scientific and intensive basis to suit its topographic features, he was very pleased that one more valuable structure has been built for the population of the county. He highly estimated the efforts exerted by the employees of the farm, noting it is a great success that they have thoroughly established a system for producing piglets of good stock which stand cold in the alpine area and succeeded in raising them. He said that the experience gained by the farm clearly proves the validity and vitality of the WPK's policy of stockbreeding which calls for simultaneously developing agriculture and stockbreeding by thoroughly establishing a ring-shape circling production system. He set forth highly important tasks that would serve as guidelines for the management and operation of the farm. It is necessary to regard it as a iron rule in stockbreeding to establish a system for processing various kinds of meat and by-products while producing meat in order to make the people's diet more bountiful and diverse, he said, specifying the orientation and ways to do so. The next leg of his guidance was the Taehongdan Potato Processing Factory honored with the title of the Three-Revolution Red Flag. He looked round the room dedicated to the history of the factory and its various production processes to acquaint himself in detail with its technological updating and production. He learned in detail about the newly-built potato processing facilities and the machines in operation. Watching the clean worksites where cultured practices have been thoroughly established in production and life and varieties of processed potatoes including dehydrated starch noodles, taffies and liquors being churned out in an endless stream from every machine, he was very pleased that it has become possible to supply greater quantities of quality processed potatoes to the population of the county. He set forth tasks to be carried out by the factory for its operation and management. He stressed that in order to boost the production of varieties of tasty processed potatoes meeting people's need it is necessary to deepen the research into potato processing and steadily raise the level of technical skills of its employees in an effort to keep increasing varieties of products. He then moved to the newly built noodle restaurant in Taehongdan-township. He went round the interior and exterior of the restaurant built in peculiar style and saw varieties of potato and pork dishes to acquaint himself in detail with its construction and management. Very pleased to learn that the restaurant is very popular among people by serving them diverse tasty and peculiar dishes as well as noodle prepared with potato, speciality of the county, he said this exciting reality of the county, the nation's leading potato producer, once again clearly proves the validity and great vitality of the WPK's policy on bringing about a radical turn in potato farming. He advanced tasks to be carried out by the restaurant for its management and operation, underscoring the need to steadily increase the varieties of potato dishes and improve their qualities to serve people better. Kim Jong Il toured the wonderfully built township of Taehongdan to acquaint himself with its management. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the officials, party members and other working people of the county turned its seat into an attractive socialist land of bliss. The county has begun to witness the spectacular appearance of a thriving nation in which the spirit of socialism is running high and people fully enjoy happiness as new leap forward and innovations are being effected in every part of the county everyday, he noted, adding this stirring reality is instilling confidence and optimism about victory into the Korean people dashing ahead towards the eminence of a thriving nation. He expressed great expectation and conviction that the people of the county would perform uninterrupted eye-opening miracles in the efforts to thoroughly implement the Party's policy on bringing about a radical turn in potato farming and thus creditably play the role of vanguard and shock brigade on the agricultural front. He was accompanied by Kim Hi Thaek, chief secretary of the Ryanggang Provincial Committee of the WPK, Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Kim Kyong Hui and Jang Song Thaek and First Vice Department Directors Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Je Gang of the WPK Central Committee and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, department directors of the NDC. |
