Noting that scientists of the DPRK succeeded in nuclear fusion reaction on the significant occasion of the Day of the Sun, the statement said that this made an important and dramatic breakthrough in the scientific and technological field, opening a prospect of developing safe and environment-friendly new energy the source of which is abundant.

The successful nuclear fusion in the DPRK goes to prove that its science and technology have reached the ultra-modern level under the Songun revolutionary leadership of General Secretary
Kim Jong Il, the statement stressed.

It said that the scientists of the DPRK succeeded in nuclear fusion reaction by their own efforts and with their own technology and resources, thus demonstrating once again the validity of the line of maintaining self-reliance and building an independent national economy.
