The bulletin in an article titled "The Idea of 'By Our Nation Itself' and Kim Jong Il" said that Chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il regarded it as his iron rule to solve every issue by dint of the concerted efforts of all the people from an independent stand while steering the Korean people for decades.

He made the idea of "By our nation itself" a foundation and an essential core for developing the inter-Korean relations, the bulletin noted, adding:

He provided the inter-Korean summit in June 2000 and saw to it that the joint declaration guided by the idea of "By our nation itself" was adopted. As a result, an unprecedentedly epoch-making turn was effected in the improvement of the inter-Korean relations and the movement for national reunification.

The historic events that have taken place on the Korean Peninsula for the last decade clearly prove that the idea of "By our nation itself" advanced by Kim Jong Il serves as an immutable banner for Korea's reunification, the statement stressed.
