Youth and students and citizens rose in a popular armed uprising against the colonial fascist rule enforced by the U.S. imperialists and their stooges in Kwangju of south Korea in May 1980, and the Chun Doo Hwan military fascist clique brutally massacred participants in the uprising and innocent citizens under the backstage wire-pulling of the U.S., the statement noted, and went on:

The massacre perpetrated in Kwangju at the U.S. instigation was a crime against humanity from A to Z.

The uprising was a popular armed uprising in which south Korean people rose to reject the U.S. neo-colonialist domination and realize the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and social democracy.

The bloody Kwangju popular uprising was put down but it will always be remembered as an event that triggered off the struggle of the south Korean people against the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet clique.

The U.S. imperialists, the chief culprit and manipulator of the Kwangju massacre, should quit south Korea at once, the statement urged.
