The statement recalled that it was agreed upon at the meeting of the chairmen of the north, the south and overseas committees of the All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration to hold a grand and significant reunification event common to the nation on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration and a series of working contacts held later chose Pyongyang as its venue and discussed all matters ranging from the contents of the event to its detailed program and the arrangements for it have since been actively pushed forward.

It went on:

But the puppet group of traitors, displeased with the projected event from the day it was proposed, made every sinister effort to scuttle the meeting of the above-said committee and its working contacts for making preparations for the event. It went the lengths of totally blocking the participation of representatives of the south side in the Pyongyang event, thus preventing the north, south and overseas sides from holding the above-mentioned event.

Rushing headlong into the moves for a reckless war in collusion with foreign forces, the group is kicking up with bloodshot eyes the anti-DPRK smear campaign, crying out for "resolute steps" after groundlessly linking the sinking of a warship of the puppet army with it.

The puppet group has wantonly trampled down upon the precious achievements gained by the Koreans through their concerted efforts under the banner of "By our nation itself" over the past decade since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, put an end to even the events for reunification common to the nation and brought the dark clouds of a war to hang over the Korean Peninsula.

The group is frantically suppressing patriotic forces of the reunification movement with the "elections to the local self-governing bodies" just at hand and making desperate efforts to tide over the crisis through the fabricated warship case, but all this will only precipitate its self-destruction.

Those seeking war and confrontation with their backs turned on the nation are fated to meet a miserable end.
