The bulletin in an article said that the top leaders of the north and the south of Korea met and discussed the issue of reunification and published the historic declaration in Pyongyang in June 2000 for the first time in 55 years since the nation's division.

The declaration aroused ardent support and sympathy with all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas soon after its adoption, it noted.

It introduced in detail the facts that dialogues and working contacts were made in various fields and joint agreements were signed between the north and the south from the stand of giving priority to the desire and interests of the fellow countrymen, thus promoting the national unity and cohesion, cooperation and exchange and bringing about reunification-oriented fruitions.

It went on:

The U.S. and the south Korean right-wing conservative forces, which stake their fate on it, left no means and methods untried to turn back the trend of the "June 15 era of reunification", fearful that its supremacy over south Korea may sink and its ambition for domination over the whole of Korea may end up in smoke as the further momentum is given to the reunification movement on the Korean Peninsula.

But unshakable is the will of the whole Korean nation to implement the north-south joint declaration to the end, regarding it as a landmark of reunification.

The Korean nation will certainly achieve reunification under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
