The statement charged that officers on the active list under the Joint Chiefs of Staff brought in prosecutor's office to sue Ri Jong Hui, lawmaker from the Democratic Labor Party and member of the special committee, for "libel" on charges that she opened to the public a series of information related to the case.

This is an illegal action of hindering the legitimate activity of the lawmaker from the opposition party and blocking the probe into the truth about the case, it pointed out.

It stressed that they would surely find out by whose order and with whose approval such act was committed.

The "government" and military authorities have gone the lengths of bringing indiscriminate accusations and indictments against those who raised differing opinions with theirs till the publication of the "results of investigation" since the outset of the case, it charged.

Members of civic and public organizations including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Women's Solidarity of south Korea held the 101st meeting for peace and disarmament on May 25 at which they demanded that the authorities open to the public the information about the said case and conduct the full reinvestigation, though belatedly, to clarify the truth about the case.
