True Aim Sought by US in Establishing MD in Europe Disclosed

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- It was reported some days ago that a decision was made on deploying a PAC-3 unit in Morag area, Poland, and an agreement on the deployment of the latest interceptor missile system in Romania was concluded by the U.S. appeasement and pressure. The U.S. is lobbying Bulgaria in this regard while its Aegis warships are deployed in the waters off the Southern and Northern Europe. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: The true aim sought by the U.S. in the above-said moves is to build the MD infrastructure and then gradually improve its capability in a bid to sharply boost it for intercepting even an intercontinental ballistic missile. It is the essence of the U.S. new plan to build networks of medium- and short-range missile interceptors in Europe and Middle East under the pretext of Iran's "missile threat" and in the Asia-Pacific region under the pretext of "missile threat" from the DPRK and gradually expand and update their capabilities in a bid to disable those of potential enemies' intercontinental ballistic missiles. The U.S. asserts, whenever a chance presents itself, that the "top priority task of missile defense is to cope with the missile threats from north Korea and Iran", but such crafty ploy can never cut ice with anyone. It is not hard to guess which the real target of the MD network now stretching out to Eurasia from the east and west is. No matter what sleight of hand it may employ, the U.S. can never hide its ulterior aim just as a gimlet in the bulging bag is bound to protrude. The new type MD, too, is like a time bomb between the relations of Russia and the U.S. as long as the U.S. ulterior motive as regards the strategic aim of the MD remains unchanged after its signboard is replaced by a new one, concludes the commentary. |
