Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- A political party and organizations of UK staged a demonstration in protest against the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' anti-DPRK moves outside the south Korean puppet embassy in London on May 21 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising. Taking part in the demonstration were personages of the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the New Communist Party of Britain and popular masses. Speeches were made before the demonstration. Kevin Cain, organizational secretary of the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association, denounced the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces for having turned Kwangju into a sea of blood three decades ago. He referred to the anti-DPRK smear campaign being escalated by the U.S. and the south Korean authorities these days, and read out the May 20 statement of a spokesman for the DPRK National Defence Commission. Dermot Hudson, chairman of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, said it is abnormal that the south Korean authorities are allowed to keep their "embassy" in London. And he strongly condemned the Lee Myong Bak puppet clique for persistently cracking down upon the pro-reunification patriots in south Korea with the "National Security Law" left intact. The demonstrators denounced the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean regime for rendering the situation of the Korean Peninsula strained. While in demonstration they were holding DPRK flags and placards carrying such letters as "The U.S. imperialists, take hands off Korea!" and "No to 'UN sanctions'!" and chanting "Abolish the 'NSL'!", "Down with Lee Myong Bak!" and other slogans. They also distributed copies of literature disclosing the Kwangju massacre. The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association made public a joint statement on May 24, which warned that another Kwangju popular uprising would take place anytime to thrust the U.S. imperialists and the puppet regime into the sea. |
