Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- 39 civic, public and religious organizations of south Korea including the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Missionary Solidarity Council of Christian Society jointly called a press conference outside the building of the puppet foreign ministry on May 26. A press release was read out at the conference. It referred to the fact that the U.S. secretary of State visited south Korea to discuss what is called "follow-up measures" as regards the case of the sinking of warship "Cheonan". The U.S. is getting hell-bent on the scheme to put sanctions on the DPRK while inciting the Lee Myung Bak group because it intended to use the case as a lever of putting pressure on the DPRK, the press release said. Expressing opposition to any sanctions which may escalate the crisis of a war on the Korean Peninsula, it demanded that the U.S. immediately retract the plot it is hatching together with the south Korean authorities. On the same day, the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea issued a statement to denounce the Lee Myong Bak group of traitors for getting evermore pronounced in the scheme to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK and ignite a war with the said case as an occasion. |
