The statement referred to the fact that the Lee Myung Bak regime and anti-reunification conservative forces of south Korea have recently become all the more frantic in escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen, deliberately linking the sinking case of warship "Cheonan" with the DPRK.

It said:

The Lee regime revived the dictatorial rule in south Korea to block inter-Korean dialogue, cooperation and exchange and commit fascist suppression of organizations and personages desirous of national reunification and democracy. It has also made no scruple of doing harm to fellow countrymen in collusion with outside forces, regarding them as "principal enemy".

The Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration vehemently denounces the crimes committed by the Lee regime by bringing the inter-Korean relations back to those in the Cold War era of confrontation and blocking national reconciliation, unity and reunification as indelible crimes against the nation, the reunification and peace.

The present reality, in which the nation stands at the crucial historical crossroads of reunification or division and peace or war, urgently requires all the fellow countrymen in the south and the north of Korea and overseas to turn out in the movement for national reunification against all challenges of the separatist forces.

The Overseas Side Committee will strengthen the solidarity of compatriots from the south, and the north of Korea and overseas and fulfill its mission and role in opening a new phase of national reunification by the concerted efforts of broad overseas compatriots in the spirit of "By our nation itself".
