The DPRK advanced peace proposals for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, but the hostile forces have steadily strained the situation in the region, putting peace at peril, the statement said, and went on:

Expressing concern about the fact that the tension on the peninsula is leading to the brink of a war, the Executive Committee of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia demands that the case of the warship "Cheonan" sinking be probed in detail and fairly with world experts including an inspection group of the DPRK National Defence Commission involved.

We urge the U.S. administration to make a bold decision to bring about a switchover in its hostile policy towards the DPRK, not to render the situation unstable but accept peace proposals made by the DPRK and sit at the negotiating table with it.

We support the DPRK in its efforts to defend its sovereignty and the political system chosen by its people.

Meanwhile, the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party and the Federal Leadership of the Left Bloc of the Austrian Trade Union Federation released statements on the same day denouncing the U.S. imperialists and the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' anti-DPRK moves.

The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in a joint statement on May 26 extended full support to the statement made public by a spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea in which it decided to severe all relations with south Korea.

The Staffordshire, Britain, Branch of the Korean Friendship Association in its statement on May 25 urged the British government not to get involved in the reckless moves of the Lee Myung Bak group and called on the trade union organizations and those of the movement for peace against imperialism to turn out in the actions for checking the dangerous provocations of the south Korean authorities.
