Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Rakwon Machine Complex alive with a high-pitched drive for effecting a great surge. He saw a five cubic meter "Jangbaek" excavator newly manufactured by the complex. Watching the excavator at work, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the officials, workers and technicians of the complex successfully contrived and manufactured the large-size excavator in a brief span of time. Noting that many more machines and equipment including excavator are needed in the socialist construction sites, he underscored the need to boost the production of quality machines to send them to various fields of the national economy. He made the rounds of various places including the technologically updated hydraulic apparatus shop and the construction machine designing institute to acquaint himself in detail with the technical equipment and production. He highly estimated the shining successes made by the workers there. Having the Rakwon Machine Complex and other machine-building bases which have been put on a high level of CNC basis, we can manufacture any large-size machines if we have a will, he said, adding that this stirring reality eloquently proves that the Juche-oriented machine-building industry of the DPRK has proudly attained the world level of the latest science and technology. It is the great achievement that the complex laid a firm technological foundation for bringing the hydraulic technology to the world level in a brief span of time, he noted, calling on the people to push back the frontiers of latest science as required by the age of knowledge-based economy when carrying out technological updating just as it was done by the complex. Very pleased that the workers of the complex have brought about eye-opening miracles and innovations in their worthwhile drive to achieve the prosperity of the country and improve the standard of people's living, he repeatedly appreciated their efforts. Noting that the complex has done a lot of work in recent years, he urged the complex to bring about uninterrupted innovations and advances in the same spirit as displayed by them. He underscored the need for the officials of the complex to steadily raise the level of their guidance to production so as to minutely manage and operate the complex on the principle of profitability and, at the same time, pay deep attention to the supply service for its workers. He once again set the goal to be attained by the complex in the near future and specified tasks and ways to do so. He showed such great benevolence as unraveling knotty problems. On the same day he went round a newly built football stadium in the province. Looking round the exterior and interior of the stadium built in a peculiar style at the picturesque foot of a mountain, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that it was successfully built as required by the new century. He extended high appreciation and deep thanks to the members of the young shock brigade of the province for building such stadium of eternal value. Underscoring the need for service persons to widely use the stadium to train their physical bodies, he set forth tasks to be fulfilled to manage and operate it. He was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui and Thae Jong Su, department directors, and Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee.
