The championships brought together players selected from 10 odd units including Taekwon-Do groups and schoolchildren's palaces and halls. They will compete in the events of Taekwon-Do, go (chess) and Korean wrestling.

Present at the ceremony were Ri Yong Su, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials concerned, Taekwon-do players and school youth and children.

Hwang Pong Yong, chairman of the committee, made an opening address.
