The Emergency Committee of Measures against the Suppression under the Pretext of Security of "the Council for Promoting the Reunification of Our Nation by Federal Formula" in a statement recalled that on June 14 the police searched offices of the council and houses of its leading members and confiscated computers and various kinds of books and documents on charges of violation of the "National Security Law" and arrested two of them. This incident is a crackdown upon the reunification movement organizations opposed to the treacherous policy of the Lee Myung Bak regime, it noted.

It stressed that they would stage to the last the struggle to get the NSL abolished and the U.S. troops withdrawn from south Korea and the movement to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification according to the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo.

The Council of Professors for Democracy, too, in a solidarity statement signed by at least 290 university professors and researchers in denunciation of the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' suppression of the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society recalled that on June 11 the citizens' solidarity sent a letter to the UNSC as regards the case of the "Cheonan" sinking. It accused the conservative forces of going on the rampage, chiding and attacking the citizens' solidarity while talking about "state interests".

The statement demanded the conservative forces stop at once the unreasonable attack on the citizens' solidarity and the "government" stop encouraging their rowdyism but opt for probing the truth about the case of the warship sinking.

The Headquarters of the Movement for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Forces in a statement condemned the Seoul District Prosecutor's Office for frantically searching Internet homepage operated by the organization on charges of violation of the NSL.

The statement said that the repressive racket was a retaliation against the organization which has waged a strenuous movement for getting the U.S. troops withdrawn from south Korea and strongly opposed the farce of the Lee Myung Bak regime, which cooked up the case of the warship sinking.
