On hand were a delegation of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and a delegation of the Korean Youth League in Japan.

Participants of the meeting watched a video showing the 13th World Festival of Youth and Students.

Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, in his congratulatory speech expressed deep gratitude to the WFDY for condemning the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK at the world festivals of youth and students held in the past in the noble idea of the anti-imperialist solidarity, peace and friendship and conducting positive activities for supporting the just cause of the Korean people.

The youth and students of the DPRK will creditably discharge their responsibility and mission in developing the world youth and students movement and make positive efforts to ensure that the forthcoming festival would provide a platform for friendship, unity and solidarity with the progressive youth and students in their efforts to build a new peaceful world, opposed to aggressions and war of imperialism.

The meeting was held divided into regional sessions in the wake of the plenary session.

The meeting was briefed on the formation of national preparatory committee of each country to participate in the 17th WFYS and its activities and on the activities of the National Preparatory Committee of South Africa which is sponsor of the festival.

It also discussed the issues concerning the program of the festival and formation of the international festival organizing committee.

The draft program of the festival was confirmed and the standard for forming the international festival organizing committee and the contents of its action decided at the meeting.

It was decided to conduct the election of the international festival organizing committee at the third international preparatory meeting to be held in Cyprus.

The meeting was an international gathering conducive to ensuring the successful holding of the 17th WFYS to be held with the desire and wish of the progressive youth and students to strengthen the movement for the world festival of youth and students.
