Opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" Staged in Beijing
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Artistes of the DPRK staged again opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" in Beijing from July 5 to 7 at the request of the Ministry of Culture of China and Beijingites.

The state grand theatre was packed to its capacity with audiences every day.

After watching the opera, a vice department director of the ministry had this to say:

Opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" is good in its script and flawless in its music and dances.

Not a few countries are only seeking stage effect by use of modern technical means, failing to move audience.

But Korean artistes are mesmerizing audience for their high skills and refined acting.

I bow my head to the arts of the DPRK which produced the classical work of China as an opera.

The Phibada Opera Troupe's visit to China has made a big contribution to further developing the friendly relations between the two countries and promoting the cultural exchange between them.

The director of the theater said that the performance of the opera got away from the practice of the theater's programming, adding:

The theatre was so crowded with programs until the first half of next year that it was hard to let the Phibada Opera Troupe use the stage more but it allowed the troupe to give more performances as an exception.

The performance of Korean style opera provided Chinese with an opportunity to learn better about the arts of the DPRK.

It was adaptation in word but a creation in fact.
