Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- Colorful activities have been conducted in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to mark the World Population Day (WPD), July 11, to suit this year's theme "Everyone Counts". A seminar on population census and reproductive health was held at the Grand People's Study House on July 12. At the seminar the theme of the 2010 World Population Day was explained, the results of the population census in 2008, the prospect of population and the results of a survey of the pregnant women's mortality made public and achievements and experience gained in the effort for promoting women's reproductive health, one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), introduced. An action program was also discussed. Meanwhile, mass media dealt with articles calling for respecting the working people's right to existence and invigorating services for reproductive health. The Population Centre published a special issue of the newspaper Population Information. |
