Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Schoolchildren presented poems and songs at the Central Youth Hall on Thursday on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publication of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's immortal classic masterpiece "Greeting the Sun Rising over the Taedong River". On July 16, Juche 49 (1960) Kim Jong Il recited improvised poem "Greeting the Sun Rising over the Taedong River" on the bank of the Taedong River, reflecting the ardent will and determination to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by President Kim Il Sung generation after generation. That day Kim Jong Il said that sunflower spreads its twigs and bears fruits toward the sun wherever it takes its roots, calling for adding shine to youth whatever work one may do in any place true to the intention of the President. The classic masterpiece was recited and sang in chorus. The performers said that the masterpiece is a clear reminder of the historic day when the work saw the light, adding that the brilliant wisdom of Kim Jong Il and his personality as a great man are clearly reflected in the work. Put on the stage were such numbers as poem-story telling and song "My Mother", a classic masterpiece, and male chorus "Let Us Learn for Korea". |
