Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, on Friday sent a congratulatory message to the 15th Summit of the African Union to be held in Uganda.

Extending, on behalf of the DPRK government, warm congratulations and greetings to all heads of state and government and representatives participating in the summit, Kim Yong Nam in the message said:

The African Union is now making positive efforts to ensure peace and security of the region and realize its political, economic and military integration amidst the unanimous support and sympathy of the peoples of developing countries including the DPRK.

Availing myself of this opportunity, I send firm solidarity to the African people's just cause of building an independent and prosperous continent by their concerted efforts and reaffirm the invariable will of the DPRK government to more vigorously strengthen the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation with the AU and its member states in all domains in the future, too.

I heartily hope that the AU summit, which will mark a significant occasion in taking practical measures for such regional peace and security and socio-economic development as promotion of maternal, infant and child health in Africa and further strengthening the AU, will produce good fruition in keeping with the common desire and interests of its member states.
