Referring to the fact that the U.S. and the south Korean authorities started in the East Sea of Korea the large-scale joint naval exercises with huge armed forces involved despite the protests of people at home and abroad, the statement said that this is rendering the situation of the Korean Peninsula so strained that a war may break out anytime.

The U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak "government" opted for aggravating the tension on the Korean Peninsula through "military display" in a foolish attempt to take a tit-for-tat against the defeat they suffered in diplomacy over the case of the warship "Cheonan" sinking, the statement charged.

It demanded that the U.S. and the south Korean warmongers stop at once the war maneuvers for aggression on the DPRK, start the reinvestigation into the truth about the "Cheonan" case and opt for building a peacekeeping mechanism through dialogue and negotiations.
