At the rally speakers noted that the "Ministry of National Defense" is seeking to increase the military budget next year 6.9 percent higher than this year. Most of the military spending has been squandered on the joint military exercises with the U.S., they charged.

They held that a fabulous amount of taxes collected from the people can never be allowed to be used for war preparations and the total amount of increased military budget should be cut off.

The military authorities intend to increase by geometrical progression the funds for developing new type weapons of mass destruction and allot 44 billion won for building airstrip at the U.S. air-force base in Osan, they pointed out, demanding that the authorities cancel the plan to increase the military budget for war preparations aimed at invasion of the DPRK.
