Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- More than half a century has passed since the Korean people won the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950 - July 27, 1953). Visitors to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum can watch a video of President Kim Il Sung delivering a historic speech "On the Conclusion of the Armistice Agreement" on the platform of the Jonsung Square on July 28, Juche 42 (1953). In the speech the President said the truce was the outcome of three years of the Korean people's heroic struggle to safeguard national freedom and independence against the imperialist allied forces and the traitorous Syngman Rhee clique, the U.S. imperialists' stooges, and it was a historic victory won by the Korean people. He also noted that in the three years of the Korean war, the U.S. imperialists had come to know well how great the might of the Korean people was, how indomitable their fighting spirit was, and what a great vitality the people's democratic system established in the northern half of Korea had. Listening to the speech of the President in uniform of marshal, the visitors learn about the great feats performed by him in guiding the hard-fought war to victory with rare military wisdom and matchless courage and grit to exalt the dignity and honor of the country. |
