Recalling that the ruling Democratic Party of Japan suffered a bitter defeat in the election to the House of Councilors on July 11, the commentary observes that this is a due judgment meted out to the Japanese politicians staying in power by dint of sycophancy quite contrary to the people's mind-set, the commentary goes on:

The successive LDP regimes complied with the demands of the U.S. over the issue of the U.S. forces base in Futenma, pursuing a one-sided pro-U.S. policy against the will of the people. For this the LDP regime faced a stern judgment of history and was ousted from power.

The Hatoyama regime was upbeat, taking "a hard-line approach towards the U.S." at its beginning. But when the U.S. pressurized Japan, feeling uncomfortable with the regime, it felt frightened and reneged on its promise made with the inhabitants of Okinawa Prefecture.

All the Japanese turned their back on the regime which yielded to the U.S. after behaving against the mindset of the people without hesitation for gratifying its own political ambition, utterly indifferent to their destiny.

At last, Hatoyama was forced to resign in less than one year since he came to power.

This being a hard reality, Naoto Kan, successor to Hatoyama, behaved so ridiculously as kowtowing to the U.S., far from drawing a due lesson from his predecessor's fate. Naoto Kan jabbered that Japan would observe the agreement reached by the preceding regime with the U.S. although the inhabitants of Okinawa demand the dismantling of the U.S. forces base and that the Japan-U.S. alliance would be respected.

The Naoto Kan regime's unchanged submission to the U.S. was the main reason why the DPJ suffered such heavy defeat in the above-said election.

Those keen on sycophancy, forsaken by the people, are fated to face judgment of the times and destruction.
