Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- At least 80 south Korean progressive organizations including the Council for the Peaceful Reunification of Tangun's Nation, the Federation of Homogeneous Nation Movement Organizations and the Council of Bereaved Families of Men of Merit for Independence held a meeting for making history of national sovereignty in Seoul on July 29 on the lapse of 105 years since the fabrication of the "Taft-Katsura Agreement," a product of the criminal collusion and tie-up between the U.S. and Japanese aggressors. Speakers at the meeting said that its purpose was to clearly probe the truth behind the criminal collusion and tie-up between the U.S. and Japanese aggressors and demonstrate the strong will of the Koreans not to allow themselves again to be insulted and cajoled by foreign forces. Noting that it is possible to completely heal the wounds caused by the disgrace and sufferings in those days only when the Korean nation achieves true peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula, they called on the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to unite under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration. A declaration read out at the meeting held that the above-said agreement historically proves how craftily the U.S. and Japanese aggressors worked to deprive the Koreans of national sovereignty, guided by the law of the jungle. It declared that the period from July 29 to November 17 would be fixed as the period of the movement for making a history of national sovereignty during which a dynamic struggle would be staged against the U.S., Japan and war. It called on the people of all strata to launch a dynamic struggle to achieve cooperation among Koreans, remove the danger of war from the Korean Peninsula and realize their desire for peaceful reunification under the banner of the above-said declarations. |
