The statement noted that Kim Jong Il in the work formulated the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo advanced by President Kim Il Sung as the three charters for national reunification.

The President put forward a lot of fair and aboveboard proposals for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea on various occasions and devoted himself to the country's reunification till the last moments of his life, the statement said, adding that the movement of Korea's reunification is steadfastly carried forward and developed by Kim Jong Il, the successor to the President.

It extended support and solidarity to the Korean people in their efforts to uphold and defend the cause of socialism and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country while foiling the ceaseless provocations of the imperialists under his Songun leadership.
