Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- August 15 is the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean nation from Japan's colonial rule by President Kim Il Sung. The Japanese imperialists occupied Korea by force of arms early in the 20th century and pursued a colonial enslavement policy, inflicting enormous human, spiritual and material losses, great sufferings and misfortune on the Korean people. Kim Il Sung, worried about the destiny of the nation subjected to their harsh suppression, founded revolutionary armed forces in his twenties and fought against them with arms. In the hard-fought struggle, he created unique and superb strategies and tactics to strike a heavy blow to the enemy. Many legends about the feats he performed in the anti-Japanese armed struggle are still told in the country. As the country was liberated by him, the destiny of the nation could be saved from the fall and Korea, which had suffered an eclipse on the world map, is now well known as the homeland of Juche, a powerful socialist state. Therefore, the Korean people have deeply revered the President through generations as liberator and great father of the nation. |
