The statement accused the Lee Myung Bak regime of bedeviling the inter-Korean relations and escalating tension and confrontation on the Korean Peninsula as soon as he came to power.

A particular mention should be made of the fact that the authorities intensified the confrontation between the south and the north after the outbreak of the warship "Cheonan" case, creating such tense situation on the peninsula that a war may break out there any moment, it noted.

The statement condemned the U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak "government" for having staged large-scale war exercises in the East and West seas of Korea, crying out for what they called "retaliation".

Querying them for whom the confrontation and war are necessary, the statement urged the bellicose forces to halt at once the above-said dangerous war maneuvers.
